making history for the year 2006 - part 2

Making history for the year 2006 - Part 2

I was chatted up on the bus on Labour Day (1st May). It all begun with a good deed that I did on bus 80 - I had given up my seat to an elderly woman since the bus was unexpectedly crowded that day. Thus, I ended up standing in front of this guy from Bahamas, who asked me if I wanted to squeeze (and I mean, really squeeeeze!) into a place between him and another lady. Being no small fella, I declined politely, to which he proceeded to tell me where he's from, the place he stays... then the magic question, just after a couple of minutes.

Him: Can you give me your number?

Me: No. *Shakes head to emphasise my point*

Him: Why?

Me: I don't give my number to people I hardly know. (Standard diplomatic reply)

Him: But if you don't give me your number, how can we get to know each other better?

Me: No! (Like I'll be taken in so easily!)

Him: Why??

And so it continues, with him asking MANY MANY MANY MORE 'Why's and me replying with outright 'No's - each 'No' said with more irritation than the one before. I tell you... I wanted so much to just find a hole and bury myself! Even the lady beside him cautioned me about him, telling how she "knows how to read people and that he's not a good guy". You can't imagine the BIG sigh of relief I heaved when he finally left the bus, at a stop that is way further than where he had intended to alight.

This definitely tops my list of 'Unenjoyable Bus Rides'!

1st May - Labour Day - Daffy's Birthday

So let me start by first wishing Daffy: HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY!!

Every birthday is special, so what is it about hers that made it extra special?

Well, it isn't the birthday per se, it's the cake. The cake that I brought, to be exact.

'Black Forest' it was (pun fully intended). The cake was all smooshed after spending an afternoon in sunny Sentosa.

There you go, the one-of-a-kind cake that only Daffy can get!

(Photo was taken off Daffy's cos I couldn't find the cable to upload mine)

Many people - including my aunties, uncles and even my younger cousins - have mentioned to me, in one way or another, that I don't look my age. My standard reply: That's because I'm young at heart! Or at least, that's what I like to believe.

But you gotta admit that something must be seriously wrong when a friend - who hasn't met you in person before - tells you that you look like a 12/13 year old after looking at this:

Should I feel flattered by this revelation? Or should I start worrying instead?
