Ok, time to Update
I huff and I puff and I blow the cobwebs down! So it's been more than a month! Of course, the major happenings in the last month must have been the Chinese New Year and the OB essay, which made my last 4th to 7th day of CNY that much more miserable. Next in line would be Teresa's 'A' Levels results, only because it was out on 1st or 2nd March - can't remember. The Chinese New Year has come and gone. This year's festivities has been filled with copious amounts of food and mahjong! For the first time in our family's history, every uncle and aunty had a gathering at their place, even the pair who lives with Grandma. So it was food food - good food - food the first 3 days of CNY, the coming weekend and the next weekend, Fridays included. Plus the goodies - pineapple tarts, love letters, bak kwa, cashew nuts, my cookies and the like - boy, it was certainly good (minus the added 2 kg)! And there was mahjong. We played with bets that are so small, Sally wouldn't even want to join us. Bah. It provided enough kick anyway, because I think my ba zi clashes with the fengshui in my house. My shou qi was rather bad here, but pretty good when we played elsewhere. Then there was the issue that got everyone talking this year - the size of the angbao given by an aunty. There was the OB essay that made my CNY rather miserable, though - I confess - I could have been spared all that misery if I had started on it earlier. But old habits die hard, as they always say. I like to think that I thrive on last-minute work, so let's hope it'll really work out. And there was the mad rush to get my essay printed out because I have a non-working printer at home. Mom offered to print it at her office, but lo and behold, they had a power failure! Finally got it exorbitantly printed at the National Library. Another bah. And there was the release of the 'A' Levels results. Teresa scored really well. Of course there were the initial 'why am I not as smart' and the 'maybe I should have retaken the As (but really, I wouldn't)' thing and certainly, a slight tinge of jealousy I admit - I always get mediocre grades at national exams while the rest does brilliantly, just like at the PSLE (No basis for the Os yet). But all's good, because deep down, I'm proud of her. Not only because she rose to the challenge and proved an uncle wrong - ole ole ole ole ole ole!, we have another undergrad (in a local university) in the family, and that's always a good thing given the competition between families today. Who says we don't study hard? Big big bah. Then again, more pressure on Rachel now. There was also the relatively simple but tricky Stats test last Wednesday, an ongoing OB group project, an accounting test next Friday, and fine-tuning my self-screwed-up BC assignment. Plus Grey's Anatomy (Where's Season 3 Episode 18?) and Ugly Betty. And my teeth.
My IQ dropped 0 points today!
