a walk to remember

For some reason, I decided to walk home today.

With the music playing in my ears (I never like to blast music), the walk was indeed a very therapeutic one.

For a transient moment, I was whisked into a little world of my own - where 'Worry' and 'Fear' never existed, where time never ran out. I forgot how badly I screwed up for the physics practical today; I forgot how much there was to do before the gp consultation tomorrow; I forgot there was a physics mock examination tomorrow which I haven't started revision for.

Somehow, the grass and flowers by the road seemed especially beautiful today, with the raindrops on them glittering as the sun shone.

I walked past my primary school - the place where I had some of my best times. Oddly, what came into my mind today was neither the good times that I had in that place nor my friends. It was a teacher. Not just any teacher, but the one who taught my sisters and I Chinese - Mrs Alice Goh. She used to tell us how honoured she was to have taught 'Huang jia san ge bao' (The 3 treasures of the Ng family). I haven't gone back for the last 2 to 3 years. But she seemed to have aged quite abit the last time I saw her.

As I walked on, I noticed the many metal pieces (the ones covering drains) along the way. Ahh... The one incredibly suay day I had back in secondary school!

It was a really wet morning, having rained throughout the night. As usual, I had to walk very briskly from the bus stop to school cos I was running late. My dirty and hole-ful school shoes never failed me before. But that day, it decided that it has had enough of my bo-chup attitude towards it and plotted against me. =( So the moment I landed my foot on one of those metal pieces just outside school, I went...

BAM!!!!!!

Right on my bum! In my school skirt no less!

Wa... Immediately, I could feel my whole body heating up man! My face was totally flushing red! There were sooo many people walking by and cars driving by at the time la! And the way I slipped was super un-glam and super un-cool can! Yet, in my haste to get up and make it past the prefects at the school gate, I slipped and landed on my bum once again! Great great great. I tell you... Nothing - absolutely nothing - could have hidden my embarrassment! I wanted sooo much to just dig a hole and bury myself in! Hahahaha!

Alas, I was abruptly brought back to reality as I reached the foot of my block

For the first time, I felt like I could just continue walking on and on....

Truly a walk to remember! =)
