Paddling with Lina
It was a tough sea training yesterday! And being hungry and thirsty didn't make it any better. I was constantly thinking of 'tau huay' and water! And I was also looking out for white boats heading towards shore, hoping they were ours! Lol!
We did: - 5km warm-up - 3 x 1000m sprint on K2 (6000m in total, cos we have to paddle back) - Short water break - 3 x 500m sprint on T2 (1500m in total) Paddled with Lina yesterday. I had to sit in front. Pretty nervous, cos I have always been the one at the back. I instinctively went to the back to set up when she handed me my seat. Lina had to remind me that I was at the front today. Haha... It was my first time sitting in front, first time controlling the rudder. I was so nervous, my knees were knocking into each other when I first got onto the boat! Everything felt so different in the front! The boat's SOOOO much slimmer, and there's something sticking in between my feet. Sometimes I forget that I'm now the one controlling the rudder, until I see the boat moving almost horizontally! Lina was really great! She let me do things step-by-step. Knowing that I was so unfamiliar with being in front, she told me to focus on the rudder and direction first, while she did the balancing. And she guided me on how to cut waves. Now I think I'm better at it than Yuen Foong! Hehe... And for the record, I think my rudder control is pretty good! Considering it's only my first time. =) Somehow, I find paddling in front really exhausting - both physically and mentally. I seemed to tire really quick. Like during the 1000m sprints, I already felt tired when we had only paddled 500m. If not for Lina's encouragement, I bet I'd have given up right then. I've never felt like this before! A tad disappointed, cos I didn't use full blade as well. Anyway, the highlight of the training was that I could actually feel the boat flying during some of our sprints! Especially during the last 1000m sprint, and the 500m sprints. Never felt this way since I last paddled with Xunbin! Had a really long chat with Xunbin last night. About her controversial entry, about our partners... I feel really bad. I feel guilty. Paddling with Lina was pretty good, I must admit (Actually, I find paddling with anyone better than paddling with Yuen Foong). But memories just start to flow back to me. About how after I didn't turn up for 1 training, I suddenly lost my partner to Xunbin. How I felt when I found out I was partnerless, and left with no choice but to partner Yuen Foong. (And she didn't make it better by insisting that she'll only paddle the K2 after she has mastered the K1.) It was all good though cos I know they were much more suitable as partners, in terms of size and all. But I know it was hard for Daphne and Xunbin to tell me. Seriously, I wouldn't like this to happen again. I don't wanna hurt anyone. Argh!~
My IQ dropped 0 points today!
